It is with immense pride we announce that our esteemed
Vice-Chancellor and Editor-in-Chief of CUJoSTech, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman
Asipita Salawu , has been awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Nigerian
Society of Engineers (FNSE) on 12th of March, 2025. This esteemed recognition
is a testament to his visionary leadership, groundbreaking research, and
exceptional contributions to the engineering profession globally, and it is a
shared triumph for the entire CUSTECH community.
Under his visionary leadership, CUSTECH has emerged as a
leading institution in Nigeria, proudly hosting all major engineering
programmes as well as cutting edge engineering programmes. This achievement
directly reflects Prof Salawu's significant influence on engineering practice
nation wide. His generous act of shouldering the annual COREN due payment for
all staff in the Faculty of Engineering at CUSTECH further underlines his
dedication to the standardisation of teaching and practice of engineering
across the country.
A thoroughly bred engineer and asset to the nation, Engr. Prof
Salawu obtained his B.Eng in Metallurgical Engineering from ABU Zaria, his M.Eng
from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi and his Doctorate degree
in Engineering from Universiti Technologi Malaysia. His career journey has seen
him work as a Research Metallurgical Engineer at the National Metallurgical
Development Centre in Jos, Plateau State, as well as a Lecturer at the Federal
University of Technology in Yola and a Professor at the Federal University of
Technology in Minna, from where he was appointed as Vice Chancellor of CUSTECH.
In addition to his academic and administrative achievements,
Prof Salawu has demonstrated remarkable leadership in professional bodies. He
has served as a two-time Branch Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers
in both Yola and Minna, and he is currently the Chairman of the Nigeria
Institution of Metallurgical, Mining and Materials Engineering (NIMMME). He
also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Confluence Journal of Science and
Technology (CUJoSTech).
This FNSE fellowship is a victory for CUSTECH, an institution
that prides itself on technology and innovation. On behalf of the entire University
community, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Engr. Prof Abdulrahman
Asipita Salawu on this well-deserved honour. His exemplary achievements and
steadfast dedication continue to inspire and pave the way for CUSTECH Community
and the future of engineering in Nigeria.
